Figuring It Out, Safely Social from From My Carolina Home

Does it seem like this isolation is never going to end?  As much as I know that someday it will, and we will be able to get back to our fun times, meetings and social events, for now we just have to find a way to bridge the gap.  But boy, is it a big gap!  I know now what it is that bothers me about the term “social distance”.  I looked up ‘distance’ in a thesaurus, and what I found was enlightening. Being Distantly Social from From My Carolina Home

Bee-bee-beeeeeep!
“We’re sorry, but the person you have reached has been disconnected.”

Yep, that’s me.  Disconnected.  Forgive me while I vent for a moment.  Just skip this paragraph if you want.  My usually busy schedule is now blank, no quilt meetings or shows, no retreats, no classes, no sew-ins for charity or anything else.  Quilt of Valor presentations postponed.  Mountain State Fair canceled for this year, so no competitions.  No gathering of photos and quilts, crafts and recipes for entering contests which usually takes up the entire month of August.  All dinner events, overnight weekends, speaker events, parties ...

Staying Busy in Challenging Times from From My Carolina Home

I have been feeling a lot of what I can only call the doldrums or weariness lately from the constant barrage of nothing but virus news on the newscasts, and a lack of focus when I am in my sewing and crafting space.  This past weekend, I abandoned my basement for some outdoor activity, and that did help clear my mind a bit.  I’ve also stopped watching much of the news.  I know I am going to be at home for the next six weeks and likely longer as North Carolina enters lockdown orders today, but thinking in those ...
